The quiet
chair.

Hot towels, no rush, the same barber every time. Three generations of the North End have sat in these chairs. The radio is still on the Sox.

The shop on Hanover St: three antique barber chairs, mirrors, dark wood and brass

Hanover St, North End

Three chairs. No rush.

A hot towel shave set out: straight razor, lather bowl and a steaming towel

From the shop

The first chair came over from Naples in a crate. The second was bought from a shop on Salem Street that closed in ’71. The third is new, and nobody likes it yet. Sit wherever you want. You’ll get the same towel, the same razor, and the same opinion about the bullpen.

Membership

The Club

Two cuts and a shave every month, a standing time that’s yours, and the chair by the window when you want it.
